Specialist 1-1 study skills support

Jane has taught for many years and supported students 1-1 with specific learning difficulties – such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, AD(H)D and autistic spectrum disorder/ Asperger’s Syndrome. She holds specialist qualifications in the assessment and identification of SpLDs and regularly attends training courses, including on ASD and university support. She holds professional membership of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA) and Dyslexia Action/Dyslexia Guild (ADG).

Support is provided for all levels of university study, including foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees across a wide range of disciplines. Teaching sessions are highly individualised, enabling students to develop effective strategies and study skills, thereby removing any barriers to learning. This will maximise academic potential and enhance the learning experience. Study support is available face-to-face or online.

She has supported her two adult children (one with autistic spectrum disorder and one with a long term health condition) through the transition to higher education and understands the many challenges faced by students in today’s higher education environment. Jane has a sensitive understanding of the impact that learning issues have on self-esteem.

Where does support take place?

Support is available face-to-face at Jane’s office in Sway (near Lymington, Hampshire), remotely via Skype/Zoom or in person at the student’s home (Distance Learning).

Where a student prefers Remote Support but wishes to ‘break the ice’ in person, Jane can travel to Bournemouth, Southampton and other nearby towns and cities (Salisbury, Romsey, Poole etc.) for an initial meeting.
